 Celebrating 95 years of God's faithfulness 95載頌揚神的信實

In 1924, Miss A. Chiles, a retired missionary from China, returned to St. Louis and noticed that despite the growing Chinese population in St. Louis, there was little or no effort made to bring the Gospel to this unreached segment of the local population, particularly the women and young children. Paying little attention to her own poor health, Miss Chiles gathered together a few of the Chinese children and began a weekly Sunday School class. Due to Miss Chiles' devoted and faithful efforts together with the help of a few faithful American and Chinese Christians, the weekly classes began to grow and a Sunday worship service was started. From this simple beginning, the St. Louis Chinese Gospel Mission was formed.
聖路易中華福音教會是1924年由一位退休宣教士周立理女士開辦的，周女士在中國內地宣教多年後由于健康原因回到聖路易。那時儘管聖路易的華人數目在增長但幾乎沒有人去花時間和精力去向華人傳福音。她不顧自己身體不好，把一些中國孩子招聚到一起開始了每星期的主日學課程。由于她的不懈努力和其他中外基督徒的幫助，主日學班逐漸成長壯大並開始每周的崇拜，就這樣中華福音宣教事工就正式形成。
As the church continued to grow and become self-sustaining, it became necessary to call a full-time pastor to lead the congregation. Rev. Fred Cheung, a youthful and dynamic graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary answered God's call and accepted the position in 1961. Through his teaching, preaching and devotion to God, a solid biblical foundation was established.
隨著教會的增長和達到自給，會衆需要一個全時間的牧者來帶領。1961年張子華牧師接受了這職份。張牧師剛從立約神學院畢業，是一位很有幹勁的年輕人。藉着他的教導、牧養和他對神的委身，聖路易中華福音教會得以建立穩固的根基。

By God's grace, the church continued to grow, expand and mature. In 1968, the church was formally registered and was renamed the St. Louis Chinese Gospel Church. It was also at this time that Rev. Fred Cheung received God's call to serve as pastor of a church in Maryland.
靠著神的恩典，教會繼續長進擴展和成熟。1968年，正式注册成爲聖路易中華福音教會，這時神也帶領張牧師到馬裏蘭州的一間教會去服侍。

Through the years, it was also necessary for CGC to move to various locations to accommodate the growing congregation. In 1990, through the Lord's abundant provision, CGC purchased a piece of land in west St. Louis County and built the current building.
伴隨著會衆人數的增長，教會的聚會場地在聖路易幾經搬遷。後來靠著神豐富的供應，教會在聖路易西郡購地，新禮拜堂於1990年11月完工。目前我們教會正處在擴堂階段，希望不久的將來即可開工。
A building expansion project was completed in 2014, providing a new sanctuary for worship as well as many needed additional classrooms.
2014年完成了擴堂計劃，包括新的崇拜禮堂以及所需的多個額外教室。
CGC has always been a missions-minded church. In 1964, the Faith Promise Offering was established and has continued to be a mainstay of CGC's missions program. CGC was one of the very few Chinese churches in North America to establish an overseas missions program and is proud of its continuing efforts to support those faithful men and women who continue to serve the Lord abroad. CGC has been blessed by being able to commission several missionaries from its own congregation and continues to support seven missionary families and individuals in Taiwan, Mexico, Macau, New Guinea, England and the United States, as well as a number of missionary and evangelical organizations.
自成立以來，聖路易中華福音教會一直是一個有宣教意向的教會，1964年教會開始以信心任獻支持宣教，這些年來信心任獻一直是宣教經費的主要來源。在支持海外宣教方面，聖路易中華福音教會是北美華人教會的先鋒，我們也爲能够堅持支持男男女女很多宣教士在海外服侍主而自豪。神也祝福我們，有好幾位是從我們教會成長起來的宣教士，目前我們一共支持七個宣教士家庭和個人分別在臺灣、墨西哥、澳門、美國本土服侍，此外還支持幾個宣教機構。

Although CGC is an elder-ruled church, the Constitution and By-Laws provide that the church shall be self-governing with a republican form of government. In other words, the government of the church is vested in its membership but executed through the Board of Elders and Board of Deacons. The Board of Elders consists of the installed ruling elders together with the teaching elders (e.g. Pastors), and is charged with the primary responsibility of shepherding and maintaining the spiritual welfare of the church. The Board of Deacons are charged primarily with the temporal and day-to-day operations of the church. The Boards of Elders and Deacons are currently engaging in a revision of the Constitution and By-Laws to better meet the needs and concerns of the current membership.
雖然聖路易中華福音教會是長老治會，教會章程也規定我們是自供自治型的教會，實行會員制度，通過長老會和執事會運作。長老會由被按立的治理長老和教導長老（牧師）組成，主要負責牧養關顧，維護教會靈性健康。執事會則負責教會具體的事務和日程運作。長老會和執事會也在醞釀對章程做必要的修改以便更好地滿足會員的需要和關心的事情。

CGC currently has over 170 communicant members with a weekly Sunday attendance of over 225. The make-up of the congregation has historically consisted primarily of American-born and overseas-born Chinese. Over the last decade, however, the congregation has become more and more diverse with membership and regular attendance from people of various backgrounds and cultures. Due to the different needs of its congregations, CGC felt it was necessary to have separate full-time pastors dedicated to leading the English and Chinese-speaking congregations. By God's grace, the church continues to commit itself to excellence in worship, teaching, caring and outreach so that people will come to know God and grow into spiritual maturity.
聖路易中華福音教會目前大約有170名會員，每個主日的聚會人數接近225人。歷史上本堂會衆主要由在美國出生或在海外出生的華人組成，但過去十多年來，我們的會衆組成越來越多元化，有各種不同的背景和文化。爲了滿足會衆的不同需求，教會覺得有必要聘請不同的牧師來帶領英文堂和中文堂的事工。靠著神的恩典，我們教會也能繼續維繫我們在神面前的承諾，致力於敬拜真神、教導真理、關懷別人、和傳揚福音，好讓他們能認識神，並在屬靈生命中邁向成熟。
