Welcome to the St. Louis Chinese Gospel Church ("CGC") English Pastoral Application Website. CGC is prayerfully seeking a full-time pastor to lead our English-speaking congregation. We are a multilingual Asian-American church with a multi-generational and cross-cultural membership. Founded by a retired OMF missionary in 1924, CGC has continued to reach out and impact the greater St. Louis community. Our weekly Sunday attendance is around 230.

We are seeking a pastor who is transformed by the Holy Spirit, a man after God’s own heart and who is devoted to prayer. He must possess the love of a shepherd and a desire to establish committed relationships not only with his flock, but with the community. We encourage the pastor’s family to engage in the ministries of CGC and to become an integral part of the CGC family.

Specific requirements include ordination as a minister from a fundamental evangelical order, a Master of Divinity degree from an accredited evangelical seminary, and legal status to reside and work in the United States. Applicants should have experience shepherding multi-cultural Christians or involvement in multi-cultural ministries. Prior experience in serving as a pastor at an Asian-American church is preferred, but not required. Applicants will be expected to keep regular office hours in the church and be able to work alongside our Lead Pastor, Board of Elders and other church staff, boards and committees in coordinating and implementing the various church ministries. Applicants must wholeheartedly affirm the CGC statement of faith and live a life consistent with Biblical principles.

The CGC Bylaws state that the responsibilities of the pastor include: general oversight of the spiritual life of the church, regular worship services, and ordination and installation of elders and deacons. Pastors shall be ex-officio members of all church committees and boards. The preaching of the Word of God in regular sermons is the responsibility of the pastor as well as the administration of the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. The pastor must have a desire to hold the office and do the work of the church, be able to lead well, hold fast to the church, and hold fast to the Word of God. He shall be able by sound doctrine to both exhort and refute those who contradict. (I Tim. 3:1-7, 5:17,18 and Titus 1:5-9)
