The Pastor of Youth Ministries (“PYM”) shall primarily nurture and shepherd our middle school and high school students to be disciples of Christ by cultivating their personal walk with the Lord. The PYM shall work together with the other Pastors of CGC as a team under the administrative leadership of the Lead Pastor, to fulfill the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ and to achieve the objectives set forth in the CGC Constitution.
Primary duties:
- Take personal responsibility to grow in Christ through daily devotional and prayer, to live out a godly example of a Christ follower for the students
- Invest in personal relationships with and pray for each teen regularly
- Develop, nurture and shape the youth ministry by working with adult youth group volunteers, student leaders, and parent ministry board
- Oversee and teach at regular youth group meetings and Sunday School classes
- Coordinate and lead teen small group Bible studies and discipleship program
Other duties:
- Participate in elders, deacons and trustees meetings and attend other meetings as needed
- Advise and collaborate with the children’s ministry to build a strong biblical foundation for the youth
- Fill the pulpit as needed
- Participate in the church prayer ministry
- Participate in the church outreach and evangelism programs and events
- Visit church families and visitors as needed
- Assist with baptisimal classes and baptism as needed
- Serve communion as needed
- As future opportunity arises, help develop the young adult ministries (college and young professional singles)
Pastoral Team
The PYM is part of the CGC pastoral team. The CGC pastoral team shall work with and be accountable to the CGC Board of Elders.
Office Hours
The PYM shall keep regular office hours at his church office as determined by the BOE.
Review
The PYM will be subject to an annual review by the BOE as set forth in the CGC By-Laws
